Mexican Navy personnel subdued an armed man who threatened staff at a guard post in Puerto Vallarta. After the suspect refused to surrender his weapon, the Immediate Reaction Force was deployed. Disabling shots were used to neutralize the individual, who then received medical attention.

An armed man was subdued by elements of the Secretariat of the Navy when the civilian approached to request information and then produced a firearm, threatening the naval personnel assigned to the Twelfth Naval Zone.

The agency stated that «this Saturday, an incident occurred outside the guard post of this Naval Command». After the civilian refused to surrender his firearm, «security protocols were immediately activated, deploying the Immediate Reaction Force to protect the facilities and safeguard the integrity of the individual, the naval personnel, and the public».

«After repeated instructions to cease his aggressive behavior and hand over the object, the civilian continued with aggressive conduct, so the personnel acted in accordance with the Use of Force Manual, applying gradual measures until he was controlled with disabling shots».

The SEMAR noted that once the situation was under control, medical assistance was provided by naval health personnel, and the individual was transported to a hospital to receive specialized care.

«In parallel, the Attorney General's Office and the relevant municipal authorities were notified, with whom this Institution collaborates for the proper clarification of the facts».
